About the challenge

The HSN Hackathon is hosted and organized by the Girls Who Code Club and HSN CS Club located at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North. This Hackathon is in-person. Our theme for this hackathon is Social Justice so your goal in the hackathon is to build software that solves some issue relating to our theme. The purpose of this hackathon is to provide an opportunity for students to utilize their skills in web development, app development, etc., and create a final product that aligns with our theme. Throughout the event, we will provide workshops and other small events to provide some assistance. These workshops range from a variety of background knowledge, including React, Database Usage (Firebase), How to use API’s, Basic Python, HTML, and Machine Learning.

Our Mission: This hackathon will showcase the talents of students at High School North, along with encouraging innovation and creativity in the fields of technology and software development.

Get started

HSN Hacks is open to students from any school district provided that there is an adult chaperone present for each group from an out-of-district school. The Hackathon schedule and other important information can be found on the website.

    Does the project have the potential for a positive impact on the target community? Does it align with the theme?
  • Innovation
    Is the submission original, or creative? Does it offer a unique approach to solving the problem?
  • Technical Difficulty
    Is the code of high quality and complexity? Were technology and tools used effectively in the project?
  • Presentation
    How clear and effective was the project submission? Was the team able to communicate ideas and solutions effectively?
  • Design & Implementation
    Does the project work as intended and is it implementable? Has the team considered UI/UX for a user-friendly experience, keeping human interaction in mind?
